Maintenance TechnicianWork with other maintenance, operations, and management personnel to provide a safe, cost-efficient program to properly maintain the company's equipment and facility assets. Utilize best maintenance practices to keep equipment reliability and efficiency at maximum levels. Duties are usually performed during day shift, but this position entails responsibility for a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week operation, and scheduled "on-call" status is required. Call-outs, overtime, Saturday, Sunday, holiday, and nightshift hours will be required as conditions demand.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine, scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs to all plant equipmentPerform unscheduled (breakdown) repairs to any plant equipment as directedHave a complete understanding of the process, all plant equipment, associated controls & instrumentation, power systems, and ALL safe maintenance practicesUtilize manuals, blueprints, parts catalogs, vendors, technical experts, and CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) to properly maintain equipment, and diagnose equipment malfunctionsPerform timely, accurate record keeping in CMMS for inventory control, parts orders, and equipment filesMaintain shift records of mechanical, operational, environmental, and safety dataPrimary goals of Maintenance personnel:Strict adherence to all safety & environmental rulesProper preventative maintenance & mechanical repairs to protect equipmentAchieve minimal equipment downtime to produce stable process operation with maximum safe productionPerform routine equipment inspections & lubricationFabrication of guards, base plates, chutes, etcCutting (Oxy/acet and plasma) of mild and stainless steelWelding (stick & wire-feed) of mild and stainless steelAlignment of drives, bearings, motors, shafts, couplings, sprockets, and sheaves using precision alignment toolsSafely remove & install equipment/components with proper rigging techniques using cranes, forklifts, hoists, properly rated rigging, & approved practicesMaintenance to kiln drive systems, bowl mills, roll crushers, belt conveyors, screw conveyors, fans, feeders, airlocks, actuated gates, load-out spouts, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic blowers, bucket elevators, product screens, weigh belts, product scales, mobile equipment, HVAC, etcPerform refractory repairsChange bags, cages, and components in process dust collectorsCarpentry & pipefitting skillsBasic electrical knowledge to assist electriciansPerform routine clean-up of work areas---before & after maintenance jobsDirect operations personnel assisting with maintenance functionsAssist operations personnel as requiredIt is understood that all people will NOT possess all skills to perform above listed functionsJob RequirementsThis job requires the use of safe, scheduled maintenance practices to support the operation of a state-of-the-art PLC automated facility that runs around-the-clock. Requirements include, but are not limited to:High school diploma and 5 years of maintenance experience preferredThe ability to communicate fluently to convey, exchange, and understand questions, ideas and instructions in both verbal and written formMeticulous attention to detail regarding accuracy of work performedPossess good math skills including four basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurementPossess computer skills sufficient to operate CMMS, fill out maintenance work requests, and the ability to learn and understand the operation of plant control systemsAbility to use all tools and precision instruments to perform maintenance on equipment and systems as listed in "job description"Able to access and work in ALL areas of plant which include heights up to 125' above ground level, and confined spacesLifting, carrying, pushing or moving of 75 pounds minimumWork in adverse outdoor weather conditionsTolerate intermittent exposure to temperature extremes, dust, noise, and vibrationAbility to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions, and respond accordinglyKnowledge of best-maintenance practicesAbility to safely operate front-end loader, skid-steer loader, forklift, hoists, cranesAbility and willingness to be cross-trained in other job functionsStrict adherence to safety policiesValid driver licenseMillwright certification a plus
