Assistant Bookkeeper

About Us

Jacobs Stone Products, Inc. is a well-established natural stone mining and manufacturing company serving customers throughout the building industry. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team and support our accounting operations.

Position Overview

The Assistant Bookkeeper will play a key role in daily accounting functions, including payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping duties. This position reports directly to the Controller and requires a strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Payroll

• Assist with weekly payroll processing
• Review employee timecards, overtime, deductions, and adjustments
• Maintain payroll records and confidentiality
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Assist with payroll tax reporting and compliance

Accounts Payable

• Enter and process vendor invoices in QuickBooks
• Verify invoice coding and supporting documentation
• Prepare vendor payments and track due dates
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Resolve billing discrepancies

Accounts Receivable

• Process customer invoices, payments, and credit memos
• Apply payments and reconcile accounts
• Assist with collections and aging reports
• Research and resolve payment issues

Accounting & Reconciliations

• Maintain accurate accounting records
• Prepare journal entries
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Assist with month-end closing procedures
• Support financial reporting and other accounting functions as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
• Hands-on payroll experience required
• Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of debits, credits, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy
• Manufacturing or construction accounting experience is a plus
