The Opportunity EQUESTRIA Life is developing a 58-acre, 38-stall, veterinarian-led equine rehabilitation, prehabilitation, and performance-conditioning campus in Aberdeen, North Carolina - at the heart of the Sandhills' established horse community. EQUESTRIA will provide a regional destination where sport horses can receive coordinated clinical oversight, advanced rehabilitation services, structured recovery, and return-to-performance conditioning. The planned campus brings together an on-site veterinary clinic and a broad diagnostic and rehabilitation suite expected to include MRI, digital radiography, ultrasound, an AquaPacer underwater treadmill, an incline treadmill, a saltwater leg spa, Class IV laser, shockwave, PEMF, TheraPlate, and solarium. The Clinical Leadership Opportunity We are seeking an experienced equine veterinarian to build and lead the clinical program from its inception. This is a hands-on medical leadership position with authority to establish clinical standards, direct patient care, shape the veterinary team, and develop a collaborative referral model serving horses and veterinarians throughout the Carolinas. Each horse will receive an initial clinical assessment and an individualized plan. The Medical Director will oversee care throughout the horse’s stay, reassess progress, modify treatment when needed, and determine readiness for discharge or return to work in collaboration with the referring veterinarian and other members of the horse’s care team. This is a referral-focused role rather than a traditional primary-care ambulatory practice. Key Responsibilities Serve as attending veterinarian of record and provide independent clinical leadership for all veterinary care delivered through EQUESTRIA Conduct and oversee case intake, diagnostic workups, individualized treatment plans, progress assessments, plan modifications, and discharge decisions Prescribe and oversee rehabilitation and prehabilitation modalities, including laser, PEMF, shockwave, underwater and incline treadmill work, aquatic therapy, and saltwater-spa protocols Develop return-to-performance and conditioning programs grounded in diagnosis, functional goals, and objective measures of progress Communicate with referring veterinarians and owners through timely case updates, clinical documentation, and discharge or return-to-work recommendations Build collaborative referral relationships with equine veterinarians, surgeons, farriers, and appropriately credentialed allied professionals Establish clinical SOPs for medical records, medication management, biosecurity, radiation safety, emergency escalation, after-hours care for admitted horses, and regulatory compliance Supervise the registered veterinary technician and rehabilitation staff; participate in hiring, training, and competency development as capacity ramps Required Qualifications DVM/VMD with an active North Carolina veterinary license, or eligibility for North Carolina licensure Strong equine-focused clinical training gained through practice, an internship, externships, veterinary-school rotations, or comparable experience; experienced veterinarians and exceptional recent graduates with a demonstrated interest in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation are encouraged to apply Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following: equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, lameness evaluation, or diagnostic imaging Strong clinical judgment and comfort managing a referral-based, non-primary-care caseload Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with referring veterinarians, owners, and staff Ability to satisfy all applicable North Carolina requirements for an attending and supervising veterinarian Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of equine clinical experience or completion of a rigorous equine internship Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (equine), residency-trained/board-eligible, or advanced equine rehabilitation training such as CERP Experience establishing or managing a rehabilitation facility or multi-modality clinical program Experience with diagnostic imaging, radiation-safety processes, and objective outcome measurement Business-minded and interested in helping shape clinical protocols, services, and pricing as occupancy grows What We Offer Founding clinical leadership of a new veterinarian-led program, with meaningful authority over standards of care and program development A 58-acre, 38-stall campus designed to bring diagnostics, rehabilitation, prehabilitation, and performance conditioning together in one setting A referral-focused role in one of the country’s most active horse communities, with a primarily daytime schedule and no routine primary-care ambulatory or emergency call The opportunity to recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing veterinary and rehabilitation team Competitive base compensation, performance-based incentive opportunity, health insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits, North Carolina licensure and professional-dues support, continuing-education allowance, and relocation/signing assistance Potential to discuss a longer-term leadership incentive or partnership structure as the program matures, subject to performance, mutual agreement, and applicable law #J-18808-Ljbffr VCA Seaside Animal Hospital
