Public Health OfficerThe Public Health Officer serves as Mono County's chief medical authority, providing medical leadership and oversight for the Public Health Division. Reporting to the Director of Health and Human Services, the position guides public health policy, oversees disease prevention efforts, coordinates emergency public health response activities, and serves as the County's trusted medical expert. This position offers the opportunity to improve the health and well-being of rural communities through collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based public health practice.The ideal candidate is an experienced physician and collaborative leader who is passionate about improving the health and well-being of rural communities. They possess a strong foundation in clinical medicine and understand the unique challenges and opportunities of protecting population health in a geographically diverse county. They are equally comfortable developing public health policy, collaborating with healthcare providers and partner agencies, and communicating complex medical information to elected officials, community organizations, the media, and the public.Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely, evidence-based decisions during both routine operations and public health emergencies. Possession of a driver's license valid in California.
