Empower students with your expertise as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) for a rewarding part-time contract opportunity near Marietta, GA. Support a dedicated 6th-grade student by delivering specialized instruction and guidance according to their unique needs. This position offers the chance to directly impact educational accessibility and foster independence for learners who are visually impaired.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Georgia PSC certification with a Visual Impairment/TVI endorsement
- Proven experience delivering instruction to students with visual impairments
- In-depth knowledge of assistive technology, accessibility strategies, and adaptive curriculum
- Collaborative mindset for partnering with classroom educators and support staff
- Commitment to tracking and communicating student progress and implementing IEP accommodations
Key responsibilities:
- Provide two tailored, 30-minute, one-on-one sessions each month for a 6th‐grade student
- Deliver direct, specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals and individual learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and accessible content
- Consult regarding appropriate assistive technology and accessibility solutions
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Ensure compliance with relevant IEP services and accommodations
- Serve as a resource to the school team on vision-specific needs and best practices
