Job Title Senior Code Administrator Job Number 2500800 Job Summary The Senior Code Administrator oversees enforcement of building codes, zoning regulations, and other ordinances to ensure the safety and compliance of construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, reviewing plans, and providing guidance to developers, contractors, and the public. Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills are essential. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) or four years of directly related full‑time experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven (7) years of full‑time experience in plan review and/or project administration. Current certification as New York State (NYS) Code Enforcement Officer. Valid NYS Driver’s License with a motor vehicle record free from major or repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Additional years of full‑time experience in plan review and/or project administration. Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices. Proficiency in inspection and permitting software (e.g., UpCodes). Key Responsibilities Code Enforcement – Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations through inspections and plan reviews. Complete and review environmental impact assessments for campus projects for SEQRA conformance. Inspections – Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites, buildings, and other structures to verify adherence to approved plans and codes. Assist developers, contractors, and the public with code‑related inquiries, provide guidance on compliance issues, address complaints or violations, review plans and specifications for State University Construction Fund and Dormitory Authority projects, approve construction plans, issue permits and applications, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports. Lead and mentor the Code Compliance Manager, provide training and foster a collaborative team environment. Identify process improvement opportunities, recommend and implement solutions to enhance code enforcement efficiency. Support the Campus Code Manager and partner with code officials and fire marshals from the university Enterprise Risk Management division to support community development, safety, and coordinated enforcement efforts. Other duties or projects as assigned appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Additional Information This is a full‑time appointment and a FLSA Exempt position. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain exemption. Eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly. Out‑of‑State Applicants Applicants must provide evidence of a valid NYS license and driving abstract within five business days of a conditional offer and obtain a NYS driver’s license within 30 days of start date.
