About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, general medical/surgical skillset, IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes Description: We are seeking a dedicated RN for our MedSurg/Tele unit. This unit has 24 beds, with an average daily census of 24. The patient population includes various diagnoses such as cardiac, respiratory, and neuro. The environment is fast-paced, with a focus on observation. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6 during both day and night shifts. In times of surge staffing, ratios may increase to as high as 1:7-8. The CNA ratio is 1:12. The team includes a charge nurse who may take a patient assignment but is always available as a resource. Support staff includes phlebotomy, IV teams, respiratory therapy available 24/7, and hospitalists on site during the day shift. Intensivists are also available 24/7, and telemetry monitoring is managed remotely. Candidates must have at least 6 months of experience with EMR systems. The technology utilized on the unit includes IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and monitors in all rooms. Floating between facilities may be required within the region and scope of practice. Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift. Weekend rotation is every other week. There is a possibility for low census call; travelers may be contacted up to 3 AM for night shifts and up to 3 PM for day shifts. Holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Shift times vary, including early morning and evening options. The unit has a positive and collaborative culture.
