Position Title UTS - Temporary GMP Manufacturing Technician at UNC Chapel Hill Location Chapel Hill, NC Work Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Position Overview The Advanced Cellular Therapeutics (ACT) Facility is a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility focused on the expansion and manipulation of human cells for clinical phase 1 applications, specifically including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. The role involves manufacturing Master Cell Banks for clinical‑grade retrovirus vector production used in CAR T clinical trials. Essential Job Duties Expand and manipulate human cells for clinical phase 1 applications, including CAR T cells and Master Cell Banks for retrovirus vectors. Responsibilities Perform cell culture activities within an ISO 7 clean room environment in compliance with GMP. Work aseptically in a Biological Safety Cabinet to ensure product integrity and prevent contamination. Execute cell counting, assess cell viability, and perform related in‑process testing. Follow SOPs and batch records, documenting all activities in accordance with GMP requirements. Make routine manufacturing decisions within defined procedures to support timely production of patient products. Recognize when to seek guidance, escalations, or request support from manufacturing leadership or quality personnel. Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, consistent, and high‑quality manufacturing operations. Other duties as needed. Minimum Experience/Education Relevant bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience. Preferred Skills Maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies in clean rooms and controlled release spaces, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and documentation per GMP. Support a variety of manufacturing‑related tasks such as preparation, cleanup, and coordination of materials and equipment. Lead or support validation projects for manufacturing systems, equipment, and processes, including documentation, execution, and data review activities. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, compliance, and product quality.
