Radiology Technician Assistant – Imaging (Orland Park, IL) Northwestern Medicine is committed to providing exceptional patient care. As a Radiology Technician Assistant, you will support technologists, nurses, and physicians in imaging services, ensuring smooth patient flow and high quality care. Job Description The Radiology Technician Assistant supports the imaging team, ensuring patient safety and adherence to NM policies and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Cares for the patient throughout the treatment/procedure according to department and hospital standards of care, age‑specific sensitivities, and Patients' First guidelines. Prepares procedure rooms for patients prior to their arrival in the department and work area. Assists in preparing patients for exam/procedure, explaining exams, answering basic questions, and providing MR Safety knowledge if assigned to MR imaging. Follows directions of technologist/nurse to assist in performing exam/procedure. Processes CDs as needed and assists with lifting and escorting patients, maintaining lift equipment competency per NMH Safe Patient Handling Policy PC 05.0095. Co‑ordinates patient care based on departmental imaging protocols, interacting and communicating with clinical and medical staff. Reconciles physician orders to correct exam protocol and escalates discrepancies to appropriate staff. Prepares necessary paperwork and information for treatment/procedure. Retrieves physician orders from order systems including EPIC, Chartview, and Powerchart. Assists in clarifying patient demographic information and verifies patient info for accuracy and completeness. Monitors schedule to ensure effective patient flow throughout diagnostic areas and informs coordinators, charge techs, and patients of delays. Obtains required paperwork to start exams and handles outside films appropriately. Recognises and reports problems to appropriate supervisors. Uses scheduling system, Radnet, and PACS proficiently; monitors stock of supplies and ensures timely re‑ordering and maintenance. Maintains equipment and work area, completing safety checklists as required. Follows policies and procedures to contribute to departmental efficiency. Organises and prioritises assigned work and schedules time to accommodate work demands. Provides clerical/technical support as needed and as assigned by Manager. Qualifications Required High School Diploma. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem‑solving and organisational skills. Computer skills. CPR Certification (BLS). Preferred Previous experience in a healthcare delivery position. Bilingual language skills.
