Shift Lead

Job Overview The Shift Lead performs duties of a CSC and/or veterinary assistant/technician while providing leadership across all shifts to ensure continuous operations and support for associates and clients. Key Responsibilities Allocate approximately 20% of time to leadership duties and 80% to paraprofessional duties, prioritizing tasks based on hospital needs. Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. Recruit and promote new clients, guide client flow, and maximize productivity of the veterinary medical team. Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service, including performing procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance, monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets, and completing preparatory work. Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care, pet health needs, and hospital services. Assist clients with documentation, entering pet information, and ensuring prompt service. Manage finances, maintain accurate balances, and follow proper opening and closing procedures. Act as backup for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to maximize quality pet care and productivity. Maintain safety protocols for pets, clients, and associates, ensuring clean and organized treatment areas. Assist with surgery as applicable and conduct administrative functions. Support leadership in developing and maintaining an efficient hospital team, adjusting schedules, and supervising paraprofessional staff. Provide client education and resolve client issues, ensuring high customer focus. Maintain communication between associates, clients, hospital leadership, and Central Team Support. Ensure compliance with Banfield dress and grooming guidelines, surgery preparation, case assignment, and team briefings. Identify bottlenecks and formulate strategies to improve medical operations, including equipment and inventory issues. Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates and perform quality checks on medical records and hospital cleanliness. Other tasks as assigned. Exposure to pets, anesthesia, radiation, hazardous materials. Education & Experience Associate’s degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred. Two years experience in healthcare, veterinary profession, or service industry; six months at Banfield preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Medical background with veterinary terminology training preferred. Compensation Hourly pay range: $21.27 – $27.18, determined by experience, skill level, and education.
