Senior Manager, Technical Program Management

As a Senior Manager, Technical Program Management at Marqeta, you will lead a team of Technical Program Managers while owning the strategic execution of our most complex, cross-functional technical initiatives. The Product Operations and Technical Program Management team operates as an integral component of the Strategy and Operations organization. We specialize in facilitating and orchestrating Product and Engineering teams and strategic initiatives that encompass our platform, product portfolio, and new innovations for our customers. Our team functions as the essential connective tissue between engineering, product, go-to-market, and customer-facing teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and aligned execution across these critical organizational functions.

The Impact You'll Have

• Build, lead, and develop a team of Technical Program Managers, providing coaching, mentorship, and career growth support
• Own the portfolio-level strategy for technical programs, ensuring alignment with company-wide priorities and roadmaps
• Partner with engineering, product, and business leadership to define program goals, success metrics, and delivery timelines
• Identify systemic risks and cross-program dependencies; drive resolution at the organizational level
• Establish and evolve program management standards, tools, and best practices across the team
• Represent the technical program management function in leadership and executive forums, providing visibility into progress, risks, and tradeoffs
• Drive continuous improvement of delivery processes, balancing speed, quality, and scalability
• Lead through ambiguity, translating broad strategic goals into structured, executable programs

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 8+ years of technical program/project management experience in software organizations, including 2+ years of people management or team leadership experience
• Proven track record leading multiple concurrent, complex, cross-functional technical programs
• Strong understanding of relevant technologies, software development methodologies and processes (S-SDLC)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders and translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Deep experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and scaling delivery practices across teams
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, set direction, and drive accountability
• Strong executive presence and experience presenting to senior leadership

Nice-To-Haves

• PMP, Scrum Master, or other relevant certification
• Experience with project management tools (Jira, Asana, etc.)
• Data analysis and visualization skills
• Experience in electronic payments and accounting systems
• Experience scaling a technical program management function or team

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta calibrates pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

• National : A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
• Premium : Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
• Premium Plus : A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

[When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this full-time position is:

• National: $183,000 - $228,800
• Premium: $190,600 - $238,200
• Premium Plus: $198,100 - $247,600
