Grocery Account Manager — Chicago, IL and Suburbs Overview Retail Data Systems (RDS) is seeking a results‑driven Grocery Account Manager to grow business across Detroit and SE Michigan. This is a sales‑focused role responsible for expanding revenue within existing grocery accounts, identifying new opportunities, and introducing modern retail technologies. Candidates who succeed in this role have strong sales instincts, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the discipline to manage their territory independently. Experience Required 5+ years in sales or account management, or 5+ years in a grocery management role. Related experience in credit card processing, technology sales, or retail systems also considered. What You’ll Do Drive revenue growth within existing grocery accounts. Identify and develop new sales opportunities with current customers. Introduce emerging grocery technologies, equipment refreshes, and software enhancements. Conduct on‑site visits to uncover needs, propose solutions, and strengthen relationships. Manage the lifecycle of sales opportunities, from discovery through close. Ensure customers are prepared for industry changes, regulatory updates, and technology rollouts. Maintain accurate tracking and follow‑up in CRM. What You Bring Strong sales instincts and relationship‑building ability. Comfort working independently with full ownership of results. Self‑motivation, accountability, and strong communication skills. Ability to travel locally and up to 25% nationally for customer visits, events, and internal meetings.
