Position: Radiation Therapist

Shift: Days, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (No weekends or on-call)

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Radiation Therapist performs radiotherapy procedures as prescribed by a physician in accordance with established standards and practices. This role involves providing patient care, treatment, and services while adhering to legal regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of an associate's degree in radiography with a certification in radiation therapy required; Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy preferred. Must be a graduate of a JRCERT accredited program registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
• Licenses/Certifications: State of Ohio licensed radiation therapist; ARRT certified; CPR certified.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
• Job-related Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to problem-solve; capable of handling multiple priorities; adept at making independent decisions.

Essential Job Functions

• Delivers prescribed radiotherapy treatments using appropriate equipment and established standards.
• Obtains patient histories, answers questions, and explains procedures while monitoring for unusual reactions.
• Adheres to departmental and hospital policies regarding quality and safety standards.
• Schedules patient treatments and consults with relevant healthcare providers.
• Ensures accuracy of patient identification and treatment prescriptions.
• Completes necessary documentation, including treatment plans and progress reports.
• Prepares treatment rooms and assists with patient transfers while maintaining care of medical devices.
• Reinforces care recommendations from other healthcare providers regarding potential side effects.
• Performs treatment verification and adjusts therapy as directed by physicians.
• Participates in professional development activities and educational programs.
• Completes miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
