Prospect Intelligence & Strategy Manager

Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Prospect Intelligence & Strategy Manager serves as the intelligence hub for University Advancement as a shared service across Development, the LSU New Orleans Foundation, and Alumni Engagement, providing strategic prospect intelligence, portfolio management, fundraising analytics, and campaign planning that maximizes philanthropic revenue across the University. This is a strategic, senior individual-contributor role that shapes where the advancement division invests its time and resources for the greatest return, not simply who has capacity to give. As the program matures, it supports the division's move toward AI-assisted prospect identification, predictive analytics, and business intelligence, including donor scoring and propensity modeling. Because clean, reliable data is the foundation of that work, the analyst is a committed partner in the Foundation's database-health effort, working closely with the Advancement Data & Stewardship Manager. Together the two form the core of advancement operations: one role owns the quality and integrity of the data, and this role turns that data into fundraising strategy.

Responsibilities

• 25% Prospect discovery and qualification: identifies and qualifies major, principal, and planned-giving prospects; conducts wealth, philanthropic, corporate, and foundation research; recommends prospect ratings and gift-capacity estimates; and builds prospect pipelines for the colleges, athletics, and institutional priorities.
• 20% Portfolio strategy: analyzes major gift officer portfolios and recommends portfolio assignments and rebalancing; identifies dormant prospects for re-engagement and annual-to-major-gift upgrade opportunities; and tracks portfolio health and movement through the donor pipeline.
• 15% Executive intelligence: prepares briefing materials for the Executive Director, Chancellor, Foundation and boards, deans, and gift officers ahead of major donor visits, including giving history, relationships and family connections, volunteer and corporate affiliations, capacity indicators, and recommended talking points.
• 15% Campaign and pipeline analytics: supports campaign planning through gift pyramids, campaign and major gift forecasting, proposal and pipeline tracking, and board fundraising dashboards.
• 15% Data analytics, performance reporting, and data health: partners with the Advancement Data & Stewardship Manager to produce major gift officer metrics, visit and proposal-conversion reports, donor retention and LYBUNT/SYBUNT analysis, annual-giving upgrade analysis, and leadership KPI dashboards, and supports the division's move toward AI-assisted prospect identification, predictive donor scoring, and advancement business intelligence as the program matures. Serves as a committed partner in the collaborative effort to restore and maintain database health, surfacing and correcting data gaps, duplicates, and coding issues identified through research. Helps train staff on database use, queries, and reporting in partnership with the Advancement Data & Stewardship Manager. This is a partnership role, not a supervisory one.
• 10% Prospect strategy and training: serves as an internal resource on prospect strategy, supports gift officers with prospecting guidance and cultivation recommendations, helps coordinate and prepare prospect review meetings, and identifies cross-campus and cross-entity opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in prospect research, prospect development, or fundraising analytics, including experience informing portfolio or campaign strategy
• Demonstrated ability to independently produce executive-ready briefings and portfolio and pipeline analyses
• Experience supporting campaign planning, including gift tables, pyramids, and forecasting
• Fluency with wealth-screening and research tools such as iWave, DonorSearch, WealthEngine, or LexisNexis
• Proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT and with query, export, and reporting tools
• Ability to support gift officers with prospect and cultivation strategy recommendations
• Demonstrated commitment to data quality and to collaborating on data-health or CRM-cleanup work
• Strong analytical and data-synthesis skills and excellent written communication
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential donor information with discretion
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in higher education advancement and major gift or campaign fundraising
• Experience with AI-assisted prospecting, predictive donor scoring, propensity models, or advancement business intelligence
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Familiarity with moves management and major-gift pipeline practices
• Experience supporting multiple entities, foundations, or athletics fundraising
• Membership in Apra and knowledge of prospect-research standards and ethics
