Responsibilities

• Collect high-quality blood and specimen samples from patients across various healthcare settings, including patient service centers, mobile units, long-term care facilities, and office environments.
• Ensure specimens are prepared and labeled correctly for laboratory testing, adhering to established procedures and safety standards.
• Explain collection procedures to patients to foster trust and confidence, ensuring a comfortable experience.
• Provide coverage at multiple locations, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to staffing needs.
• Lead and mentor other staff members, including onboarding new employees and guiding Patient Service Representatives on site.
• Act as a resource and point of contact for staff, providing updates and support to ensure smooth operations.
• Handle complex or high-volume cases requiring advanced phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Collaborate with multiple functions such as laboratory testing, billing, IT connectivity, and logistics, to ensure seamless patient care and specimen processing.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.

• Ability to draw high-quality blood specimens through skillful and safe techniques.
• Strong interpersonal skills for explaining procedures and building patient trust.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills, especially when working with diverse healthcare teams.
• Experience handling multiple priorities and managing workflow in busy environments.
• Proficiency in data entry and keyboard skills relevant to specimen documentation and patient records.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• At least five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum of three years' experience working in a patient service center or in-office practice preferred.
• Experience delivering excellent customer service in retail or service environments is a plus.
• Keyboard and data entry skills to accurately document specimen collections and patient information.
• This position may require flexibility to work in various locations and adapt to different patient populations and operational needs.
