Payroll Specialist

Payroll SpecialistPerform daily payroll department operations. Assist with all payroll transactions prior to payroll submission. This position will be responsible for the garnishment and child support, and processing change of status forms for terminations, new hire, and any other changes.Responsibilities and Duties:Review, set up, and manage incoming court orders, child support orders, tax levies, and creditor attachmentsCalculate withholding applicable for the garnishmentsEnsure withheld garnishments are sent to the agencies or creditors accurately and on time, reconcile accounts monthly by maintaining excel spreadsheet of all garnishments entered with details of calculationCommunicate with employees regarding court orders, child support orders, tax levies, and creditor attachments, and agencies as neededEnter garnishment deductions in Payroll System according to garnishment ordersVerify timesheet accuracy, notify supervisors regarding missing information including approvals to ensure payroll can be submitted on timeCommunicate with employees, and supervisors regarding payroll issues: such as accrued vacation, direct deposit issues, etc.Maintain Employee self-service database by approving direct deposit changes, setting up vacation and sick time for new hires, and changes for promotionsReceive, sort, and log mail daily relating to payroll and People's Operations, scan and email People' Operation MailRun timecard, labor distribution reports, and other reports as needed for billingPreparation of manual checks for termination, or retro payments and enter information into accounting softwareAll other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) AND two (2) cumulative years of experience in PayrollAbility to investigate and resolve problems with entries in payroll system.Strong computer skills, including database management EXCELADP experienceGood with numbers and detail orientedAbility to multitask and work under pressureMaintain confidentialityGood customer service and communication skillsADA Information: Physical Requirements:The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time.Frequently sitting and typing for extended periods of time.Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.Occasionally required to bend, stretch, reach or stoop.Required to wear office appropriate clothes.Mental Demands:Ability to change direction as priorities shift.Ability to thrive in environments that require the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position.Work Conditions:This is not a remote position.
