Job Description
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing professional front-desk support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This role ensures efficient office operations by managing scheduling, patient intake, and administrative tasks while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Key Responsibilities:- Greet and check in patients, verify personal and insurance information, and maintain accurate records
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct communications to appropriate staff
- Collect co-pays, process payments, and maintain billing documentation
- Prepare and organize patient charts, forms, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA
- Coordinate with providers, medical assistants, and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Handle referrals, authorizations, and insurance verification as needed
- Maintain clean and organized front office area
- High school diploma or equivalent (medical office certification preferred)
- 1+ year of medical reception or healthcare administrative experience
- Familiarity with EMR systems and basic billing processes
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages common in Arcadia)
- Knowledge of insurance plans, referrals, and authorizations
- Experience with scheduling systems and patient coordination
