Join Our Team at DCFS: Child Welfare Supervisor (2nd Shift) - Child Protection Investigations This is a second-shift opportunity, offering a consistent 4-day workweek (10-hour shifts from 1:30 PM to midnight), with three days off each week—including every other weekend. Qualifications Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare. Experience Substitution Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Necessary Special Requirement Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle. Note The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c). Job Duties Assure the safety and well-being of children through supervision of the Child Welfare Specialists (CWS) Trainee/1/2/3 investigation of allegations of child abuse and neglect. Provides direct line supervision of professional level CWS employees in the Child Protection Investigation Program through supervisor conferences, case staffing, unit conferences, on the job training, review of completed work assignments. Guides employees through the assessment of validity of the child abuse/neglect allegations and through the risk of harm assessment and need for out of home placement. Determines work assignments, coordinates work flow and duty assignment of employees, monitors work productivity and activity to assure compliance with Agency procedures and policies. Attends appropriate agency staffing, meetings, and training/conferences in order to carry out the agency's policies, and to enhance skills development. Reviews and evaluates work performance Works directly with clients, professionals, and community members who are upset and need clarification about a worker's intervention or Agency intervention in general. Performs other duties as assigned for the smooth operation of the Department. Position-Specific Details Appointment Type: Job Appointment Compensation: The Child Welfare Supervisor has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $26.91/hr. This position will also receive an additional $4.00/hr shift differential pay for hours actually worked during their regularly scheduled shift (1:30 PM - Midnight). Work Schedule: This is a second-shift position, consisting of a 4-day workweek (10-hour shifts from 1:30 PM to midnight), with three days off each week on a rotating schedule—including every other weekend. This schedule also will include some weekends and holidays. Location: We are looking to fill multiple vacancies, and the domicile of these vacancies will be determined by the selected applicants. Louisiana HB 420 requires all prospective DCFS employees to complete and clear multiple background clearances prior to employment with this agency.
