Remote California Litigation Paralegal

Compensation: $30 per hour

About the Role

Equivity is seeking a Litigation Paralegal with at least three years of recent experience in a California law firm. This role supports attorneys throughout the litigation lifecycle, including drafting and filing documents, managing discovery and deadlines, and preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.

This remote W-2 position includes guaranteed paid hours during the first three months: 80 hours in the first month, 40 hours in the second month, and 20 hours in the third month. Additional hours may be available based on client demand. After the initial three-month period, scheduled hours will depend on active client assignments, workload, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Electronically file and serve documents in California state courts.
• Assist with discovery, document review, and production.
• Maintain litigation calendars and track critical deadlines.
• Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, client meetings, and trial activities.
• Support attorneys with case preparation and legal research.
• Organize case files, exhibits, pleadings, and supporting documents.
• Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
• Provide case updates and proactively identify deadlines and follow-up needs.

Required Qualifications

• Three or more years of recent litigation paralegal experience in a California law firm.
• Strong knowledge of California civil litigation procedures, court rules, e-filing requirements, and deadlines.
• Experience with discovery and pretrial preparation.
• Ability to manage multiple matters with limited supervision.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant education and experience.
• Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated home workspace.
• Availability and responsiveness during California business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Clio or similar legal practice management software.
• Experience working in a fully remote legal environment.
• Familiarity with AI tools used to improve legal and administrative workflows.
