Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads the manufacturing engineering function for a build-to-print aerospace manufacturer specializing in precision machining and electro-mechanical assembly. This position provides technical leadership and hands-on support to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with customer drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable aerospace standards. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager works closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to develop robust manufacturing processes, resolve production issues, improve productivity, reduce costs, and support new and existing programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineering Leadership

? Lead, develop, and manage the Manufacturing Engineering team, establishing priorities based

on production and business needs.

? Provide hands-on technical support to machining and assembly operations and serve as the

primary engineering escalation point for complex manufacturing issues.

? Establish and maintain standardized manufacturing engineering processes, procedures, and best

practices.

? Partner with Operations to identify production constraints, bottlenecks, and opportunities for

improvement.

Process Development & Production Support

? Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for precision aerospace

components and assemblies.

? Review customer drawings, models, specifications, and technical requirements to determine

appropriate manufacturing methods.

? Develop and maintain manufacturing routings, work instructions, setup documentation, tooling

requirements, and other production documentation.

? Support CNC machining processes, including tooling, fixturing, setup optimization, cycle-time

reduction, and process improvements.

? Develop and improve assembly processes, including work sequencing, tooling, fixtures,

inspection points, and error-proofing.

? Work directly with production personnel on the manufacturing floor to troubleshoot issues and

improve processes.

New Product & Program Support

? Lead manufacturing engineering activities for new product introductions and customer program

launches.

? Support drawing and contract reviews by identifying manufacturing risks, tooling requirements,

process requirements, and cost drivers.

? Develop manufacturing plans and processes for new products and support prototype, First

Article, and production activities.

? Ensure manufacturing processes and documentation are established prior to production release.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction

? Lead initiatives to improve productivity, quality, delivery, and manufacturing costs.

? Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cycle time, setup time, scrap, rework, and other

manufacturing costs.

? Utilize Lean Manufacturing, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

? Evaluate opportunities for automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, improved tooling,

and capital equipment.

? Establish and monitor manufacturing engineering metrics to drive improvement.

Quality & Compliance

? Partner with Quality to ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer and internal

requirements.

? Support nonconformance investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and

customer-related technical issues.

? Ensure manufacturing documentation accurately reflects engineering requirements and is

maintained under appropriate revision control.

? Support compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and other applicable aerospace

standards.

ERP & Manufacturing Data

? Maintain accurate manufacturing routings, labor standards, work centers, and process

information within the ERP/MRP system.

? Use manufacturing data to identify cost drivers, production constraints, and improvement

opportunities.

? Support effective implementation of engineering and process changes within the production

system.

Leadership Responsibilities

? Hire, train, mentor, and develop manufacturing engineering personnel.

? Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.

? Allocate engineering resources to support production and strategic business objectives.

Required Education/Qualifications:

? Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

? 7+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.

? 3+ years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience.

? Strong hands-on experience with CNC machining and/or complex mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly.

? Experience in a build-to-print manufacturing environment.

? Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixturing.

? Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data.

? Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing and structured problem solving.

? Strong communication, leadership, project management, and organizational skills.

Preferred

Qualifications:

? Aerospace manufacturing and AS9100 experience.

? CNC programming and/or CAM experience.

? Experience with automation and advanced manufacturing technologies.

? Experience with estimating, quoting, and developing labor standards.

? Six Sigma or Lean certification. xhyhwjd

planning tools.
