Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a large academic Level I Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Large academic medical center with 1,000+ beds, a 56-bed OR (inpatient and outpatient), and 5 procedural rooms designated as a Level I Trauma Center
• Assigned to the OR Float Pool with the possibility of floating between ORs within the same location
• Complex cardiac patient population including CABG, valve repair/replacement, repeat cardiac procedures, heart failure, ECMO, VAD, heart and lung transplant, PTE, cardiac trauma, and adult congenital cases
• Adult patients only; no pediatric cases
• 12-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (specific days may vary based on unit needs; block scheduling is not available)
• Call is required for all travelers in cardiac surgery, structured in 3 layers covering 24/7 coverage, with call requirements rotating every 6 weeks
• Schedule consists of 3x12-hour shifts per week plus call obligations

Requirements

• Active RN license — TN or compact state license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must be able to both scrub and circulate cardiac surgeries
• Academic medical center or high-acuity hospital experience preferred given the complexity of cases

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating complex cardiac surgeries such as CABG, valve procedures, transplants, ECMO, and VAD cases
• Must be willing and available to take call as part of the 3-tiered, 24/7 call rotation in addition to scheduled shifts
• Call requirements rotate on a 6-week cycle
• Children's Hospital OR is a separate facility; this role does not involve pediatric assignments
