Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $19.93hr - $21.36hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization to patients visiting for health routines or insights into health decisions. The candidate draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The candidate has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, accuracy of patient information, and sensitivity to confidentiality. Assignments may be at a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as operational needs dictate.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform with confidence both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including securing patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in the patient's presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Commitment to all policies and procedures, including standard dress code, employee health and safety, and operational guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel and maintain flexible hours required to work across multiple locations and cover patient service centers or in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated customer focus, with strong verbal and written communication skills to interact openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical training as a medical assistant or paramedic is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
• Keyboarding and data entry experience.
