Corporate Network Engineer IIIThe Corporate Network Engineer III is a key contributor in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and performance. This position plays a key role in the work effort for the installation of routers, switches, access points, firewalls, collaboration equipment, and third-party application hardware and software. The Network Engineer III is a subject matter expert for multiple network technologies and a source of reference for other network engineers.This role will implement, support, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software and participating in efforts to set IT network/video/voice architecture and standards ensuring solutions are compliant and meet GBCI IT standards.This position collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, the Network Team Lead, vendors, and service providers to architect, design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions to support the GBCI business requirements.This position will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the design and implementation of the architecture, development, testing, documentation, and support of key network solutions.This is a corporate position which may be located in an available bank division across our nine-state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, or WY.The entry rate for this position is $98,243.80 + /year (calculated for Kalispell, MT). All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.WA applicants only: Range: $107,009.76-$160,514.63 / per year.General network responsibilities include staying current with networking products and industry trends, working with project and engineering teams, business partners, and suppliers to continually improve and align GBCI's network strategy with GBCI business leadership priorities as well as other GBCI IT strategies and practices.Collaborate with GBCI IT architecture and engineering functions, including data center and information security teams to better understand and meet networking and connectivity needs of GBCI Divisions, through service and process improvements.Work closely with solution providers to understand communications and service roadmaps and assist management in ensuring readiness to deploy new functions.Ensure all network documentation is kept current and accurate for topologies, system configurations, including dependencies on supporting infrastructure as well as GBCI-specific IP, routing, VLAN, DNS, circuit information, etc.Create configuration, deployment guideline, and standards.Assist NIT leadership with vendor management with relation to projects, support, and service delivery.Report service quality, bandwidth, latency, system capacity, licensing, and uptime metrics.Report on and drive resolution for issues related to standards and process inefficiencies and other opportunities for continual improvement.Network infrastructure engineering includes designing and supporting Gigabit Ethernet Switching/Routing (EIGRP & BGP), IPv4, designing and supporting enterprise WIFI solutions, building and implementing diverse wide area networking environments, building and implementing QoS for a voice/video/data network environment, developing and generating conceptual, logical, and physical network architectures, providing operational support services for various network and video solutions, planning network layouts and configuring systems to user environments, analyzing network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements, experience with Azure cloud networking preferred, working with internal and external customers to fill information gaps and communicate architecture and technical solutions, supporting the acquisition of hardware and software, performing network engineering and architecture duties for a distributed wide area networking environment.Service delivery and project support includes functioning as a subject matter expert on projects that have network requirements, contributing to projects by completing assigned responsibilities by agreed deadlines, and effectively communicating with the project team, identifying, recommending, and coordinating process improvements within and across related departments to increase efficiency and improve service delivery.Escalated incident support includes providing network support at a Tier III level, training and guidance to network administrators and more junior network engineers, responding to escalated support needs such as complex or major incident resolution and broad scale change requests for network systems and services, collaborative troubleshooting with other teams including port/protocol diagnostics, metrics and log review for networking clients and devices, providing technical support for Tier IV incidents, must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.Qualifications to perform this job successfully include a bachelor's degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or related field, seven years of increasingly responsible professional work experience in computer science, information systems, or information technology, seven years of experience with any of the following: Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper switching, routing, wireless, video, and firewall hardware, routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF, and diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues and outages, TCP/IP packet analysis, using Wireshark or raw packet captures using tcpdump, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model, telecommunications industry experience highly preferred, seven years of hands on experience in designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software, seven years of supporting and/or designing highly virtualized cloud or private data center and WAN/LAN/Wi-Fi environments, subject matter expert with most of these network technologies: network monitoring and administration, Cisco, Juniper, Citrix, Fortinet, or Meraki hardware experience, Meraki Wi-Fi and SD-WAN experience, working knowledge of 802.11 and Wi-Fi security methods, working knowledge of MPLS, VLANs, VTP, and STP, IPsec, SSL, and remote access VPN solutions, IP addressing understanding, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Radius, and other network based services, network security best practices, Azure VPN, virtual firewall, and networking knowledge, carry out technical strategy in the deployment of complex systems, as well as contributing to technical solutions and administrative maintenance, implement critical projects in support of a wide range of complex applications that rely on server functionality, a significant level of trust, credibility, and diplomacy is required, in-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature, communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance, capable of interacting calmly and professionally with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds at various levels within and outside of the organization, a team player with a passion for customer service and a proven ability to build rapport and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, ability to adapt to change (e.g. shifting priorities, demands, and timelines) through time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, a self-starter with ability to take ownership and accountability of all roles and responsibilities with minimal supervision, well organized with ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, ability to serve as a backup for other staff members in a mutually supportive
