About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief of Staff to the Commissioner. The successful candidate will be a strategic, collaborative, and highly organized individual with a background in public administration, infrastructure, environmental services, operations, or a related field. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for leading the coordination and execution of the Commissioner's priorities across the company's various bureaus and executive leadership team. This includes convening internal stakeholders, monitoring the implementation of agency-wide initiatives, and preparing and reviewing executive materials. The role also involves representing the company in external meetings, serving as the primary liaison to City Hall and other city agencies, and supporting the development and implementation of agency strategy and performance management initiatives. Applicants for the Chief of Staff position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years' work experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a direct advisory, management, or executive support role to organizational leadership. The role requires a candidate who can partner closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Deputy Commissioners to advance the company's objectives and support effective organizational management. The Chief of Staff will also be involved in overseeing the Office of the Commissioner, managing office operations, and supervising assigned staff. A key aspect of the role is to ensure the alignment of the Commissioner's time and engagements with the company's priorities, as well as to lead the tracking and implementation of agency priorities, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives, operational performance, and organizational accountability. The position is pivotal in supporting the advancement of equity and environmental justice principles across the company's operations.
