Kitchen closes at 6pm. Every day. No dinner service, no 1am breakdown.
Mimloo is a play café and children's activity space opening on 44th Drive in August. We serve a tight menu built for families — sandwiches, salads, grain bowls, eggs, and kid plates done properly rather than as an afterthought. Two minutes from Court Square (7/E/M/G).
This is the senior kitchen role. You'll run the line, own consistency, and help finalize the menu before we open.
The job
- Run the line during service — you're the one cooking
- Own prep lists, ordering, par levels, and waste
- Set the kitchen's standards and hold them: temps, labeling, rotation, DOH readiness
- Work with us on menu development and costing before we open
- Direct the prep and dish person on shift
You'll have a prep and dish person working alongside you. This is not a role where you spend service in the dish pit.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years on a line; sous or lead experience is a plus
- Comfortable owning a small kitchen without a chef above you
- Steady through a weekend brunch rush
- NYC Food Protection certificate required — we'll cover it if you don't have one yet
- English or Spanish both fine
Schedule: Five days a week, roughly 8am–4pm or 10am–6pm. Weekends required — Saturday and Sunday are our biggest days by a wide margin.
