Warehouse Planner I

Position Summary

The Warehouse Planner I supports safe, accurate, and timely movement and control of materials through Warehouse Stores within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for physically handling materials and accurately completing the corresponding system transactions necessary to maintain inventory integrity.

The Warehouse Planner I performs activities across four primary areas: Receiving, Issuing & Material Distribution, Inventory Management & Warehouse Control, and Safety.

Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, transaction accuracy, organization, and the ability to maintain an appropriate pace while performing both physical warehouse and computer-based activities.

The Warehouse Planner I work under the direction of Supply Chain leadership and receives day-to-day work coordination and training from the Lead Warehouse Planner. In addition to the areas described above, the Warehouse Planner I performs other duties as assigned in support of Warehouse Stores and broader Supply Chain operations.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Receiving

· Receive materials, parts, supplies, equipment, and other goods delivered to Warehouse Stores by carriers and couriers.

· Inspect incoming materials for damage, quantity, item identification, and accuracy against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of landing, and other applicable inbound documentation.

· Identify shortages, overages, damaged materials, incorrect items, and other receiving discrepancies and follow the established Overage, Shortage & Damage (OS&D) process.

· Prepare and stage materials for return to suppliers or carriers when required.

· Complete Goods Receipt and other required ERP transactions accurately and timely to ensure physical inventory movement and system records remain synchronized.

· Properly identify, label, organize, and stock inventory in designated warehouse/bin locations while maintaining appropriate material traceability.

· Route or deliver non-stock and direct-use materials to the appropriate requester or department.

· Maintain required receiving and material-movement documentation in accordance with established procedures.

· Promptly communicate receiving exceptions that cannot be resolved through established processes.

2. Issuing & Material Distribution

· Review authorized material requests, including production orders, inventory transfer requests, and other approved requests.

· Accurately pick, verify, and stage the correct materials and quantities for issue.

· Complete Goods Issue, inventory transfer, and other applicable ERP transactions accurately and timely to maintain alignment between physical and system inventory.

· Ensure materials received for direct use are properly received and issued within the ERP system, as applicable.

· Deliver issued materials to the appropriate requester, department, or company location, operating company vehicles when required.

· Maintain required documentation associated with material issues, transfers, and deliveries.

Customer & Product Samples

· Prepare, package, label, and stage product samples for shipment to customers, laboratories, or other designated recipients.

· Confirm shipment requirements, including recipient information, package weight, dimensions, shipping instructions, and carrier requirements.

· Create shipping documentation using company carrier accounts or customer-provided information and schedule carrier pickups as required.

· Maintain applicable sample-shipment documentation.

3. Inventory Management & Warehouse Control

· Perform scheduled cycle counts in accordance with the established cycle-count program.

· Follow established inventory variance procedures, including recounting inventory, investigating potential causes, and completing required variance and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation.

· Maintain accurate bin locations, material identification, and organized storage areas.

· Identify, segregate, and report damaged, unidentified, questionable, obsolete, or otherwise restricted materials pending appropriate disposition.

· Supporting physical inventory counts, audits, and other inventory-control activities as required.

· Maintain the physical security and control of inventory, including securing warehouse gates, doors, and controlled areas when Warehouse Stores personnel are not present.

· Immediately report unexplained inventory discrepancies, unauthorized material movement, or security concerns to the Lead Warehouse Planner or Supply Chain Superintendent.

· Maintain clean, orderly, and accessible warehouse and storage areas, including routine housekeeping such as sweeping floors and aisles, removing trash and packaging debris, staging pallets and dunnage, returning tools and equipment to designated locations, and cleaning minor spills.

4. Safety

· Comply with all company safety, environmental, and compliance requirements.

· Safely operate authorized forklifts, material-handling equipment, and company vehicles.

· Follow established requirements for the safe handling, loading, unloading, storage, securement, and transportation of materials.

· Maintain safe and orderly aisles, work areas, exits, and material-storage locations.

· Promptly report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, spills, incidents, or other hazards in accordance with company procedures.

Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Valid driver's license and ability to meet company requirements for operation of company vehicles.

· Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift or successfully complete required forklift training.

· Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365 applications.

· Ability to learn and accurately perform transactions within an ERP.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

· Ability to follow established processes and documentation requirements.

· Good verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to organize work, manage assigned priorities, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

· Ability to work independently after receiving appropriate instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous warehouse, inventory control, shipping/receiving, material-handling, manufacturing, or related experience.

· Previous experience entering transactions within an ERP or Warehouse Management System (WMS).

· Previous forklift and material-handling experience.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

· Ability to routinely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and handle materials.

· Ability to safely climb ladders as required to access stored materials.

· Ability to operate material-handling equipment and company vehicles.

· Work is primarily performed in an ambient-temperature warehouse environment and may involve seasonal temperature variations.

· Heaters and fans are utilized where practical to improve working conditions.

· Position requires periodic driving between nearby company locations during the workday.
