Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Store Manager and District Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will assist with the day-to-day operations and management of the store and donation area. To ensure efficient and cost-effective operation through world-class customer service, processing donated goods, quality control, and maintaining a productive workforce.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all management duties, including opening/closing, all day-to-day store operations, and management of store associates, including recommendations for associate change of status decisions.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating, as well as the development of associates within the framework of GWH policies, procedures, and the associates' job descriptions.
- Adhere to working the established rotating schedule unless otherwise directed or approved by the District Manager.
- Maintain open availability to assist the store with management and leadership needs to include time frames outside of the management rotating schedule if needed.
- Ensure completion of the daily management duties as provided by GWH's leadership team.
- Ensure the Safety Program is being managed efficiently.
- Manage and influence the team by communicating clear company daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals.
- Partner with the store manager to create, prepare, and post schedules, review/approve electronic time sheets, and monitor labor hours.
- Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities at POS registers/safe.
- Execute GWH's workflow as designed by training, coaching, and documenting associate performances while assessing production progress on an hourly basis.
- Prepare and administer personnel and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure store supplies and bank orders are placed in a timely manner.
- Supervise and assist with the training and development of associates.
- Help ensure the proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow in and out of the store by always utilizing proper equipment according to GWH policies and procedures.
- Coach by Walking Around (CBWA) for approximately 80% of the time on duty to ensure associates are meeting minimum expectations.
- Accurately operate all store systems and ensure financial and statistical counts are completed (donor counts, production standards, etc.).
- Help ensure the timeliness of proper rotation of apparel and hard goods according to GWH policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

- Must be punctual and have dependable attendance, and maintain an appropriate appearance.
- Must safely conduct work; maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire exits clear and free from clutter, and keep work areas neat and clean.
- Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Management experience is preferred.
- One (1) to two (2) years of retail sales experience is preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
- Must have reliable transportation.

- Retention Rate (Measured by annual leadership retention vs LY, 30-New Hire day vs goal, and Annual Retention Rate vs LY)
- Customer Service (Feedback from team, secret shopper, and donor ratings for assigned district)
- Change Round up as a % of Transactions (>30% and higher than the previous year)
- Active with Zero hours TMs vs Goal (Zero (0) – 28+ days) (Assigned District)
- Administration - Performance management/Training (Assigned District at <5%)
- Reporting Team Meeting Minutes, Safety, Over/Short (Assigned District)
- Safety – 95% quarterly safety metric score

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- The ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, reach, kneel, push, and pull.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.)
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- An indoor work environment with occasional exposure to outside temperatures.
- The noise level in the normal work environment is usually moderate.
