Instructor, Computed Tomography – Adjunct Location: Houston, Texas We are currently seeking an Instructor for Computed Tomography who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

SUMMARY

Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role encompasses teaching, academic advising, professional development, and institutional and community service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching the discipline. Continuously improve instruction by reviewing and applying innovative methodologies and delivery methods. Develop and submit a syllabus for each course or laboratory. Plan, develop, and use diverse teaching methods appropriate for varied learning styles. Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and communicate assessment results in a timely manner. Maintain accurate student records and submit related reports on schedule. Recommend student textbooks and learning materials. Teach courses at varied times and locations as needed. Use equipment and facilities responsibly and assist with routine maintenance of instructional laboratories. Demonstrate competence and interest in classroom technology and explore new instructional methodologies. Academic Advising Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Provide access to students through office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods. Make presentations on program objectives, opportunities for further study, work–study, and careers. Create and maintain a website with program information. Collaborate with the Chair on academic advising activities as needed. Professional Development Establish annual objectives for professional growth in consultation with the department Chair. Keep pace with developments in the discipline. Learn and apply technologies that support student learning. Participate in the evaluation process for self, department, and college. Institutional and Community Service Collaborate with HCC engineering technology programs. Assist in maintaining ABET accreditation and quality of course offerings. Coordinate conferences, meetings, workshops, and outreach activities. Participate in institutional service activities such as opening week, conference days, and commencement exercises. Serve on discipline, program, departmental, college, and system committees. Adhere to all HCCS policies and procedures. Participate in college–related activities such as student activities, faculty selection, community education, and recruitment. Participate in activities that promote goodwill and the mission of HCCS. Help maintain program and college accreditation standards. Assist in departmental objectives, budget priorities, program curricula, and collaboration with secondary and post–secondary institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree or higher preferred. Hold an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) current registration in Radiography and Computed Tomography and be licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a medical radiologic technologist. Experience Three (3) years recent Computed Tomography experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work in a diverse work environment. Willingness and ability to teach day or evening classes at multiple sites. Knowledge and skill in various computer usage and software. Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with a diverse professional, community, and student population. Good organizational and planning skills. Sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds and disabilities. Ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning–centered environment. Self–disciplined and able to manage others effectively.
