A premier wholesale distributor of consumer products in Bellport, NY, is seeking a hands-on Data Support Specialist to join their tight-knit onsite team. In this highly visible role, you will be the operational backbone for a nationwide team of over 300 field merchandisers-turning raw tablet data into clean, actionable insights for senior management. This is not a role for data scientists or software developers, but rather for a tenacious administrative professional who thrives on spreadsheet manipulation, daily communication, and tight deadlines. responsibilities:
Responsibilities

Start the day with data: Extract raw, tablet-based operational data from field systems into Microsoft Excel, carefully cleaning and sorting medium-to-large datasets.

Be the central hub for the field: Act as the primary point of contact for nationwide merchandisers, managing a high volume of phone calls and emails (especially on Mondays and Tuesdays) to gather missing information and resolve payroll discrepancies.

Track and report daily performance: Build, update, and reconcile daily sales and store visit reports, sending formatted analytics directly to departmental leadership.

Drive weekly and monthly analytics: Generate weekly KPIs (store visit compliance, service metrics, payroll summaries) and perform monthly financial reconciliations comparing field payroll expenses against total sales volume.

Collaborate and problem-solve: Work closely with Accounts Receivable and Equipment teams to ensure field tablets are properly configured and operational issues are chased down until fully resolved.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

Demonstrated, daily working mastery of Microsoft Excel.

Please Note: All candidates must be comfortable completing a live, hands-on Excel proficiency assessment during the onsite interview (candidates may bring their own laptops).

Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to handle heavy phone and email follow-ups with field representatives.

High attention to detail with the persistence to track down missing data and resolve operational payment discrepancies.

A proven background in execution-focused, administrative reporting. (Note: Overqualified candidates seeking predictive modeling, SQL, Python, or BI Developer roles will not be considered).

Nice-to-Haves

Previous experience in operations, merchandising, retail support, or logistics.

Experience collaborating with remote teams or field personnel.

A high school diploma or equivalent (proven hands-on experience is prioritized over formal degrees).
