Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position with telemetry capabilities, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• Work on 2 West C, a Med/Surg unit with telemetry capabilities specializing in vascular disease diagnoses
• Unit consists of 12 private rooms and 2 semi-private rooms with a maximum census of 16 patients
• Patient population ranges from young adults through geriatrics; also receives med/surg and telemetry overflow admissions
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Epic EMR; experience preferred
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license currently in hand (license hits not accepted)
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Required skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Required skills include feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, heparin, insulin, and PCA medication administration
• Required skills include high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management
• Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, and wound care/wound VAC
• Preferred skills include telemetry monitoring, management of dysrhythmias, and pre/post hemodialysis management

• Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not eligible: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be approved; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
• Travel pairs or groups will not be accepted
• Orientation modules are completed onsite and average 4–6 hours for RNs
