Responsibilities Teach assigned courses, including developing and posting syllabi, preparing and delivering instruction, designing assignments and assessments, grading student work, and providing timely, constructive feedback. Engage in professional development, effectively utilize the College’s Online Learning Management System (CANVAS), and maintain open communication with students, colleagues, and supervisors. Contribute to curriculum improvement efforts aimed at enhancing student success. Develop course syllabi in the format determined by the College and post them by deadlines. Prepare for and deliver class, studio, lab instruction at times, modalities, and locations determined by the College. Use instructional materials to plan and deliver instruction designed to enhance student learning. Develop or modify assignments, assessments, and other course materials to support and evaluate student understanding of learning outcomes. Grade student work and provide constructive feedback in a timely fashion, including resolution of incomplete or disputed grades. Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the college and department. Validate textbooks, post course syllabi, class/grade rosters, and submit final grades by established deadlines. Remain current with how to use the College’s LMS (CANVAS) as required by guidelines. Respond promptly to communications from students, colleagues and supervisors. Meet with students individually to review course work as needed. Collaborate with other faculty to support curricula improvement to promote student success and mastery of competencies. Required Qualifications Option 1: Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution and industry certifications in at least one of the following areas: GTAW (tig), GMAW (mig), SMAW (stick), FCAW (flux core), or similar. OR 4 years of verifiable experience as a welder in the field. Option 2: High School Diploma or GED and industry certification(s) in at least one of the following areas: GTAW (tig), GMAW (mig), SMAW (stick), FCAW (flux core), or similar. OR 4 years of verifiable experience as a welder in the field. Instructors must maintain certifications and/or respective licenses. Knowledge, Abilities & Skills Personal and professional commitment to quality instruction aligned with Seminole State College’s mission and vision. Sufficient professional expertise in the specific field/discipline. Maintaining faculty credentials as required by accrediting agencies. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to utilize technology and innovative pedagogy to enhance teaching and learning. Professional, courteous demeanor and commitment to student learning and development. Work Environment and Special Considerations Works in a classroom/lab setting. Pay Benefits and Work Schedule Adjunct faculty are paid according to Seminole State College’s Non-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule, based on the instructor’s highest degree earned. This posting is for a College Credit Course. To view current pay rates, please refer to the Salary Schedule. Adjunct faculty also have free access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Conditions of Employment Finalists and individuals recommended for employment must reside in Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting as per Florida Statute 1001.64 and college policy. Background checks may include criminal background, credit check, driver’s license check, previous employment, and references. How To Apply THIS IS A POOL POSITION. Adjunct positions are temporary, part-time, and filled based on enrollment. Submissions remain active for one academic year and are reviewed by the Department Dean. Applicants may be considered for day, evening and/or weekend teaching assignments depending on department needs.
