Growing together.As a Senior Software Developer on our Optum Rx Software Engineering team, you will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Node.js, React, and JavaScript within an AWS cloud environment. You will lead technical efforts in building cloud-native solutions with AWS Lambda and MySQL RDS, integrating AI-driven capabilities, and leveraging developer productivity tools to automate workflows and optimize application performance across our pharmacy services platform.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications and services using Node.js, React, and JavaScript.Architect, build, and deploy serverless microservices and cloud database solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), utilizing services such as AWS Lambda and MySQL RDS.Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered features, tools, and automated solutions to address complex business and operational challenges while adhering to responsible AI guidelines.Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools and modern development utilities to streamline workflows, automate testing, and drive continuous software delivery improvements.Evaluate emerging technologies and AI capabilities to inform solution architecture, system design, and strategic technical innovation.Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate pharmacy and healthcare business requirements into robust technical solutions.Drive code quality through continuous integration, peer code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to software engineering best practices.Mentor team members and contribute to technical leadership and continuous process improvements across the organization.Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AIYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of software engineering experience in full-stack web application development using JavaScript and Node.js5+ years of hands-on experience with building, deploying, and maintaining cloud applications. (Eg, AWS, GCP, Azure)3+ years of experience designing, building, and integrating RESTful APIs and microservices2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools, automated testing frameworks, and modern build pipelines1+ years of experience developing, integrating, or utilizing AI-driven tools, services, or models within software applications or developer workflowsPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of software development experienceExperience integrating enterprise AI frameworks, machine learning APIs, or generative AI servicesExperience with containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS)Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDKExperience working within an Agile/Scrum software development lifecyclePharmacy benefits management (PBM) or healthcare industry domain experienceSoftware engineering experience in full-stack web application development using React, Lambda, MySQLExperience working on Mac OS based development tools and workflowExperience with pharmacy, EHR, and healthcare system integrations is a plusPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
