This is a handson machining position requiring experience with manual mills, lathes, and fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable setting up machining operations, reading machining prints, inspecting finished parts, and troubleshooting machining challenges.Experience with CNC controls, press brakes, or shears is a plus. We are looking for someone who takes pride in precision, understands tolerances, and can work independently to produce quality parts.MACHINES & EQUIPMENTAcer E Mill – 3-axis manual mill with CNC controls and conversational programmingAcra 17' Manual Lathe with DROScotchman Ironworker with punch, shear, and notcherBridgeport 3-axis Manual MillChicago Steel Power Hammer – experience operating one is a plus, or willingness to learnRESPONSIBILITIESOperate manual and CNC-controlled machining equipmentSet up machining operations using custom fixtures, spacer blocks, and hold-downsRead and interpret machining prints and technical drawingsUnderstand machining tolerances and tolerance stack-upAccurately measure and inspect completed partsUse calipers, micrometers, drop gauges, and other precision measuring toolsTroubleshoot machining and setup issuesPerform quality checks throughout the machining processMaintain accurate dimensions and tolerances on finished partsSafely operate mills, lathes, ironworkers, and other shop equipmentMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience as a machinistStrong experience with manual machining equipmentAbility to read and interpret machining printsAbility to understand tolerances and tolerance stack-upAbility to accurately read and use calipers and micrometersExperience inspecting parts using precision measuring toolsAbility to set up machining operations using fixtures, spacer blocks, and hold-downsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to troubleshoot problems and work independentlyStrong understanding of machining practices and shop xhyhwjd safetyPREFERRED SKILLSExperience operating an Acer E Mill or similar 3-axis mill with CNC controlsExperience with conversational CNC programmingExperience operating an Acra or similar manual lathe with DROExperience operating a Bridgeport 3-axis manual millExperience with Scotchman Ironworkers or similar equipmentExperience with press brakes and/or shearsAbility to resharpen drillsAbility to grind basic custom lathe tooling and profilesExperience operating or willingness to learn a power hammerExperience creating custom fixtures and work-holding solutionsWHAT WE OFFERStarting pay of $30–$35 per hour based on experienceFull-time employmentHands-on machining and fabrication workOpportunity to work with a variety of manual and CNC-controlled equipmentOpportunity to utilize and expand advanced machining skills
