Wage Range: $25 - $42/hour DOE

Night Shift: 4 - 10-hour shifts/week. 2:30pm - 12:00am ($4/hour Shift Differential)


Training Day Shift: M-F, 6am-2:30pm. Schedule for first 1-2 months before moving to night shift

Position Summary:


The CNC Machinist Level 1 reports to the Mill Supervisor and is responsible for the setup and operation of various CNC machines as assigned with some supervision required.


Position Duties: Include, but are not limited to,

• Setup of entry level tooling and fixtures as required by the work order and setup sheet.
• Maintain shop documents.
• Tie-in and train shop technicians.
• The operation of the machine per programs and work order instructions.
• In process inspection of parts in conjunction with a part checklist to ensure the quality of parts produced.
• Deburring of parts in process where required for continuous machine operation and to promote efficient use of machine run time.
• Promote continuous process improvement through daily involvement in shop activities and by communicating effectively with all staff members,
• Maintain cleanliness of machines, tools, and work area to promote safe and efficient operation.
• Maintaining cleanliness of inspections tools and ensure they are properly calibrated.
• Maintaining accurate quantities of parts and material yield.

Required Skills:

• Exhibit good communication and organizational skills.

• Possess strong knowledge of basic shop math.

• Possess strong knowledge of machining practices, including set up and operation.

• Maintain a good understanding of machine tools, identifying correct tools, when tools are worn and how to load replacements.

• Maintain a good understanding of Tool and Work offsets, when and how they are used.

• Be able to understand CNC programs and edit them.

• Be able to create concise and legible shop documents.

• Be able to read, understand, and follow all shop procedures and instructions.

• Possess a strong understanding and be able to use all inspection devices.

• Maintain a strong understanding and acceptance of the company Quality Management System and relating procedures.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the following conditions can occur:

• The employee is in a clean (5s'd), and climate-controlled manufacturing environment with state-of-the-art filtration systems. In this environment there is exposure to moderate to loud noise, dust, fumes and vapor from coolant, etc.
• There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, twist, bend, lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions including inserting upper body into tight quarters in machinery during the course of the workday.
• Must be able to stand for the duration of an 8-10-hour shift.
• Personal protective equipment will be required and provided.
• The job involves time pressure and performing well under stress.
• Employment includes being able to sustain working rapidly for long periods and to communicate and interact with others. There are multiple priorities to juggle including reading and comprehending written materials.
• The employee must have the ability to write and solve shop math.
• Excellent attendance is necessary to keep production running. 40 hours per week is typical to accomplish performance objectives.
• Good manual dexterity, attention to detail and a quality focus are all vital characteristics of a successful machinist.
• Possible skin and inhaled contact with various sealants, paints, adhesives, and other chemicals may occur, as well as possible skin and inhaled contact with chemicals used to run CNC machines or clean manufactured parts, including solvents and acetone. PPE & industry standard safety equipment is provided by the company.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Experience:


Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment and an additional 2 years of CNC machine operation.


Education/Certifications:


High school diploma or equivalent within 2 years of hire date.


Other education as required to perform the skills listed above.
