Senior Power BI Consultant/BI Architect (Contract)

Adrenaline is seeking a proven Power BI expert for a hands-on three to six-month contract role to transform complex data into executive-level insights by designing and delivering scalable dashboards across key business functions. This role requires a strategic thinker who can engage with leadership, challenge assumptions, and quickly translate business needs into robust data models and reporting solutions, working approximately 20–40 hours per week (on-site in Portsmouth, NH preferred; remote considered).

Accountabilities

• Transform existing Excel-based reporting and analysis into interactive Power BI dashboards.
• Build executive and Board-level KPI reporting that provides clear visibility into company performance.
• Develop project and operational dashboards that enable managers to make faster, better-informed decisions.
• Create scalable data models and reporting frameworks that can evolve as the business grows.
• Improve data literacy across the organization by sharing knowledge and documenting solutions.
• Identify reporting opportunities and business insights that leadership may not yet realize are possible.

Responsibilities

• Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Data Architecture & Modeling: Design and maintain efficient Power BI data models. Develop and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, and Power Query transformations.
• Data Integration: Connect, cleanse, and model data Dyanmics SL ERP, SQL Server, MS Dyanmics 365 CRM, Dataverse, HubSpot, and other business applications as needed.
• Business Partnership: Partner with the CFO, Director of Finance, and Senior Director of IT, to understand business needs, challenge assumptions, and deliver data-driven insights that uncover trends, risks, and opportunities while proactively guiding leadership decision-making.
• Knowledge Transfer: E stablish standards and document reporting architecture to provide knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders who can then can sustain, enhance, and scale dashboard reporting solutions.

Initial Project Areas

• Executive and board-level reporting (KPIs, financial performance, growth metrics, and monthly reviews)
• Project and operations reporting (project health, budget vs. actuals, resource planning, utilization, and forecasting)
• Sales and Marketing reporting (pipeline visibility, win/loss analysis, forecasting, and performance dashboards)

Qualifications

• 5+ years of advanced Power BI development with expert proficiency in Power BI (Desktop/Service), DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and SQL Server (complex queries, performance tuning), including integrations with SQL Server, Dataverse, Dynamics 365.
• Familiarity with Dynamics SL, project-based industries, and Power Platform tools preferred.
• Demonstrated experience optimizing Power BI solutions for performance, including efficient data modeling, DAX optimization, incremental refresh, and large dataset management.
• Proven ability to design executive and operational dashboards, with strong business acumen in financial and operational metrics and excellent stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience in KPI/financial reporting across a matrixed environment, resource and utilization analytics, and presenting insights to executive and board-level audiences.
