This role focuses on performing MIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel in accordance with detailed engineering drawings and specifications. You set up and operate welding equipment, adjust key parameters, and ensure all welds meet strict quality standards and customer requirements. The position also involves reading and interpreting blueprints and fabrication drawings, preparing materials, and occasionally working on sheet metal assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel materials in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Set up and operate welding equipment, including adjusting voltage, wire feed speed, and gas flow rates to achieve proper weld quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings to plan and execute welding tasks accurately.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they conform to internal quality standards and customer requirements.
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components prior to weld operations.
• Perform occasional welding and fabrication work on sheet metal assemblies as needed.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Collaborate with team members in fabrication and production to meet project timelines and quality goals.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with MIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel.
• Ability to perform occasional TIG welding when required.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings.
• Skill in setting up and operating welding equipment, including adjusting voltage, wire feed speed, and gas flow rates.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting welds for conformance to quality standards and customer specifications.
• Competence in material preparation, including cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components prior to welding.
• Understanding of basic fabrication practices and weld symbols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with sheet metal welding and fabrication.
• Experience in working on HVAC-related systems or similar industrial products.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team in a production environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust welding parameters to address fit-up or quality issues.
• Commitment to following safety guidelines and maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift role, working 5:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with an additional 8-hour shift every other Friday. The facility is non-climate-controlled, so you work in typical industrial shop conditions around welding and fabrication equipment. You operate MIG and occasional TIG welding machines, handle mild steel, stainless steel, and sheet metal components, and collaborate closely with other welders and fabricators in a production-oriented environment. Appropriate workwear suitable for an industrial welding shop is expected to ensure safety and comfort.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of High Ridge, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
