Prototype Configuration & Change Control Analyst

Help prototype programs run smoothly by owning Master Parts List (MPL) integrity, shepherding change control, and aligning systems so engineering teams can move fast with confidence.

A day in the life

You start by reviewing overnight changes: new engineering deviations to capture, a few BOM updates to reconcile, and a short call with a partner supplier about part status. Before lunch, you validate MPL accuracy against the latest BOM and process data, then sync with Prototype Engineering to incorporate build-process details. In the afternoon, you resolve a data transfer mismatch between platforms, brief the warehouse on part availability, and support a part shortage review—closing the loop with crisp updates and clean records across all systems.

What you will own

• End-to-end creation, maintenance, and validation of Master Parts Lists for prototype builds.
• Close collaboration with internal engineering and partner companies to ensure every part and build detail is correct.
• Routine BOM-to-MPL alignment checks, driving discrepancy resolution to root cause.
• Integration of process-related data into the MPL in partnership with Prototype Engineering.
• Ongoing data quality work: validation routines, accuracy checks, and audit readiness.
• Change management execution: review, approval, and implementation of change tickets.
• Analysis, debugging, and correlation of data as it moves between systems and platforms.
• Consistent accuracy of part/build information across all connected systems.
• Regular communication with warehouse teams on part availability and status.
• Active support for part shortage meetings with clear, actionable status updates.
• Participation in deviation meetings and precise reflection of approved changes in the MPL.
• Tracking and communicating part status through each prototype build phase.
• Support for Change Review Boards and rapid, correct incorporation of last-minute updates.
• Proactive identification and resolution of data discrepancies that could impact builds.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Management, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience managing and validating MPLs or comparable BOM/parts datasets.
• Solid grasp of Product Data Management (PDM) principles.
• Proven strength in data analysis, validation, and problem solving.
• Experience with change management processes and supporting tools.
• Ability to analyze, debug, and correlate complex, cross-system data.
• Competence in interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort working with engineering, warehouse, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications

• Background with ERP/MRP environments.
• Experience using PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
• Exposure to automotive, EV, or prototype development settings.
• Understanding of vehicle architecture and vehicle systems.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring harnesses.
• Experience supporting prototype builds or production-related operations.
