A brand-new subspecialty practice in Head and Neck and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery is looking for an individual experienced with patient intake, medical insurance verification and payor portal navigation. Candidates with attention to detail, great interpersonal skills, and uplifting attitude are welcome. Position with opportunity for professional growth and advancement.

Primary Responsibilities

· Serves as a practice representative to patients, patients’ insurance, and patients’ referrals

· Answers phone calls and schedules patients’ appointments and schedules surgeries

· Communicates with other physicians’ offices as indicated to ensure timely and streamlined patient care

· Obtains and ensures accurate demographic information, completion of the required patient forms, and insurance benefits verification with individual payors prior to patient visit.

· Obtains necessary referrals prior to patient visit if indicated by patient’s payor, pre-authorizations for in-office procedures, pre-authorizations for elective surgeries (CPT codes will be provided by the physician), pre-authorizations for imaging and other necessary tests

· Identifies patients’ financial responsibilities and collects visit co-pay prior to appointment and patient financial responsibility prior to scheduled procedures and/or surgeries

· Performs timely follow up on pending tasks

· Maintains timely, accurate, and concise patient account notes

· Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards

· Participates in education activities to ensure current knowledge of Federal and State compliance regulations and third-party insurance plans

· Treats everyone with respect, leads by example with excellent and compassionate care

Education and/or Experience

• Previous experience with elective surgery pre-authorization, calculating financial responsibility, collecting patient responsibility and surgery scheduling is highly desired.
• Associate degree in health sciences preferred.
• Working knowledge of healthcare insurance, particularly Medicare and Commercial Insurances.
• Health and/or medical benefits verification skills including major medical benefits experience is required.
