Project Controls Specialist I – Invoice Reviewer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controls Specialist I – Invoice Reviewer to support project cost controls and invoice processing. This position is responsible for reviewing project invoices prior to approval and payment, ensuring amounts, vendor information, purchase orders, cost coding, supporting documentation, and contract requirements are accurate and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project invoices for accuracy, completeness, required supporting documentation, and proper approval routing.
\n
• Validate invoice amounts against purchase orders, approved amendments, Schedule of Values (SOV), and WBS activity/cost codes.
\n
• Reconcile previous, current, and total invoiced amounts by line item.
\n
• Confirm invoices comply with applicable contracts and agreed payment terms.
\n
• Verify vendor and payment information prior to approval.
\n
• Validate accounting and project cost coding.
\n
• Ensure invoices comply with purchasing, accounts payable, and approval policies.
\n
• Identify and escalate invoice discrepancies, contract concerns, supplier questions, and vendor-performance issues before payment.
\n
• Partner with project controls, procurement, accounts payable, vendors, and other project stakeholders to resolve invoice issues.
\n
• Maintain accurate documentation throughout the invoice review and approval process.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• Experience reviewing invoices, purchase orders, or project cost documentation within project controls, construction, procurement, accounting, or accounts payable.
\n
• Working knowledge of purchase orders, Schedule of Values, WBS/cost coding, payment terms, and invoice approval processes.
\n
• Strong numerical and reconciliation skills with excellent attention to detail.
\n
• Ability to review and interpret contract and purchasing requirements.
\n
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Experience with Maximo.
\n
• Experience with Power BI.
\n
• Previous experience supporting construction, capital projects, or project controls environments.
\n

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in invoice validation and project cost documentation and be comfortable identifying discrepancies before payments are released.
