Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years of ICU experience is required License: Valid and current registered nurse license Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: 3 years of travel experience in ICU Experience with CV surgery, trauma, ventilators, chest tubes, central venous lines, external ventricular drains, and neurosurgery Knowledge of lab interpretation Comfortable floating between units Ability to work weekends Description: This position requires an experienced ICU registered nurse. The ICU nurse will float between units as needed. The role does not require call. Weekend shifts are required, totaling six shifts over a six-week schedule. The expected nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2. Candidates should have experience managing complex patient needs, such as those following cardiovascular or neurosurgery. It is essential to have skills in ventilator management, IV sedation, blood product administration, and monitoring for acute complications. Knowledge of managing high-acuity patients with multisystem organ dysfunction is necessary. The daily census in the unit averages around 11 patients. Nurses will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with support services to provide optimal patient care. Candidates should be prepared to engage with various specialized equipment and procedures used in ICU settings. This position represents an opportunity for dedicated nurses looking to enhance their experience in a dynamic healthcare environment. Candidates must work a minimum of three of the five major holidays. References from the past three years are required, covering at least one year of experience.
