About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Compact license must be in hand at submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Neuro ICU experience, including post-craniotomy, stroke patients, and management of external ventricular drains - Charge experience preferred Description: The position requires the ability to float between units as needed. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of 6 shifts in 6 weeks. Block schedules may be approved based on staffing needs. Expected patient ratios are 1:2 to 1:3. Candidates should have experience with arterial line management, ventilator management, and care of ventilated patients. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is essential. Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions is required. Familiarity with continuous IV sedation and management of neuro patients is critical. Additional skills include managing high flow nasal cannula, administering emergency medications, and conducting frequent neuro checks. The unit primarily cares for neurosurgical patients, including those with strokes and intracranial hemorrhages. Team collaboration is necessary, with support from various interdisciplinary services. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Commitment to working holidays is expected as required. References are needed covering relevant recent experience. Flexibility in scheduling is important. Adherence to facility policies is required.
