Director, AI Engineering

Be responsible for defining the strategic vision, overseeing the development, and managing the growth of an organization's autonomous AI systems and platforms. Provide technical leadership for the design, development, testing and deployment of agentic workflows across Capital One. Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the agentic AI platform, ensuring it aligns with organizational priorities. Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the platform, from development and integration of AI solutions to sunsetting legacy offerings. Guide technical teams, set best practices for AI orchestration, MLOps, and application development, and ensure platform scalability and reliability. Work with senior leaders, product management, sales, and other engineering teams to align the platform's capabilities with business goals. Act as a champion for the platform, articulating its strategic value to senior stakeholders and influencing enterprise decision-making. Foster a culture of innovation and drive the adoption of AI-powered tools across the organization. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies At least 3 years of people leadership experience 5 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team 7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud) Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g. LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts to peers.
