Senior Manager / Director, Regional Accounting

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager or Director of Regional Accounting to lead accounting operations across multiple U.S. regions. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, driving process improvements, and partnering with operational leadership to support business performance.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical accounting expertise, proven leadership experience, and a strong process improvement mindset. Experience leading accounting transformations, system automation initiatives, and post-acquisition integrations is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Close Management
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across assigned regions.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial results, variances, and key business metrics.
• Partner with Regional Directors of Finance Operations to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

• Accounting Operations
• Oversee general ledger activities, journal entry approvals, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure proper accrual accounting for operational expenses, including labor, fuel, maintenance, and other key cost categories.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and reporting consistency across locations.
• Improve close efficiency while maintaining strong controls and accuracy.

• Process Improvement & Systems
• Lead initiatives focused on accounting transformation, process optimization, and automation.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to accelerate month-end close timelines.
• Ensure data integrity across financial systems, including Oracle ERP, EPBCS, and FCCS.
• Identify opportunities to enhance reporting, workflows, and operational efficiency.

• Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop regional accounting teams.
• Establish performance objectives and support employee growth and development.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Internal Controls & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements.
• Support internal and external audit activities.
• Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Experience leading accounting teams in a multi-location or decentralized environment.
• Demonstrated success driving accounting transformation, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Experience integrating acquired businesses into existing accounting operations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with Oracle ERP and financial reporting systems preferred.
• Transportation, logistics, fleet management, or other operationally intensive industry experience is a plus.
