About the Role
At JCW Group, we're partnering with a well-established regional bank to recruit a Senior Accountant - Investments. This role sits within the accounting team and plays a key part in supporting accounting and reporting for the bank's investment portfolio, while also contributing to core general accounting and month-end close activities. You will be responsible for investment accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance in a regulated banking environment.
- Perform investment accounting for the bank's securities portfolio, including amortization, accretion, and valuation analysis
- Prepare and post journal entries related to investments and general ledger activity
- Support month-end close, including account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
- Maintain and reconcile investment sub-ledgers to the general ledger
- Assist with accounting for the Bank's Loan Portfolio
- Monitor investment activity, purchases, sales, maturities, and unrealized gains/losses
- Prepare supporting schedules for management, auditors, and regulators
- Partner with Treasury and Finance teams to ensure accurate reporting of investment activity
- Support process improvements and strengthen internal controls
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA strongly preferred (or CPA-eligible)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience with investment or securities accounting within banking or financial services strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Experience with AFS / HTM accounting and investment reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with investment accounting systems a plus
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
