Location: Oakland, CA (5x onsite per week)

Hourly Pay Rate: $40 - $50/hr., depending on experience

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join the team to assist through a system implementation and beyond. This will be a contract opportunity to start with potential for the candidate to convert to full time employment.

Responsibilities

• Handle payroll processing for roughly 400 employees across multiple California locations.
• Process payroll for a combination of hourly and salaried employees with varying schedules, shift differentials, overtime calculations, and multi-location payroll complexities.
• Research and stay current with California payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll compliance requirements.
• Work cross-functionally with Accounting & Finance teams during system implementation and transition period.

Requirements

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-site or high-volume environment.
• Hands-on experience with UKG/Kronos or similar payroll/timekeeping systems strongly preferred.
• Exposure to payroll implementations, system conversions, or ERP/accounting system transitions is highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complex payroll processes accurately and efficiently.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
