Senior AI/ML Engineer

Job Duties

IDR is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer. The role is a 12-month contract position, primarily remote, based in Eagan, Minnesota. The primary responsibilities include designing, building, evaluating, and deploying production-grade AI/ML and Generative AI solutions focused on healthcare and enterprise applications. The role combines hands-on technical work with collaboration on AI system development, including retrieval-augmented generation, document intelligence, ML pipelines, and cloud-native deployment.

Position Overview for the Senior AI/ML Engineer:

• Design and develop scalable AI solutions that utilize large language models, retrieval systems, and various data types.

• Build RAG pipelines, document ingestion workflows, semantic search, embeddings, and prompt engineering components.

• Create evaluation frameworks, guardrails, APIs, and implement production monitoring for AI solutions.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate technical requirements into effective AI applications.

• Contribute to the deployment and monitoring of AI models in cloud environments.

Requirements for the Senior AI/ML Engineer:

• 3+ years of AI / Machine learning engineering experience.

• Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.

• Strong Python programming and SQL experience.

• Hands-on experience building Generative AI or RAG-based applications.

• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, semantic search, query expansion, and citations.

Compensation: $75 - 78/hr W2
