Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking an ABEM-certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Norwich, Connecticut. This position provides overnight Emergency Department coverage as part of a collaborative team with 24-hour APP support.

Compensation: $300 Per Hour

Position Highlights

• Start Date: Late December / Early January
• Schedule: 11:00 PM–9:00 AM
• Approximately 32 hours per week
• Typical schedule: 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the next
• Nocturnal coverage
• 24-hour APP coverage
• Dual physician coverage from 7:00 AM–2:00 AM
• Single physician coverage from 2:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Annual ED volume: approximately 54,000 visits
• Average: approximately 15 patients per shift
• Coverage is needed to backfill a retiring physician

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all acuity levels.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and emergent conditions.
• Perform standard Emergency Department procedures within scope of practice.
• Stabilize patients and determine appropriate disposition.
• Collaborate with APPs and other members of the emergency care team.
• Provide appropriate consultations, admissions, transfers, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.

Qualifications

• ABEM certification required
• Emergency Medicine residency training
• Current Connecticut medical license
