About The Role As a Research Analyst, you will serve as a direct representative of SHOOK Research — a brand ambassador operating at the highest levels of the financial services industry. You will be the critical link between the financial advisors, teams and firms we evaluate and the research and rankings that define industry excellence. In the field, you will travel nationally, meeting face-to-face with top financial advisors and management at major financial institutions and independent firms across the country, often in partnership with leading asset management firms. You will conduct structured due diligence interviews, build rapport quickly with prominent professionals, and gather the qualitative insights that drive our industry-leading rankings. In the office, you will work alongside our data and research team. Diving deep into data analysis, identifying trends, and translating findings into meaningful insights that illuminate how top advisors build, manage, and grow their practices. You will also play an important role in educating advisors on the benefits of SHOOK’s rankings and in-person events, helping them understand the value of participation and rankings in the industry’s most credible recognition program. Key Responsibilities Travel nationally a minimum of twice per month to conduct in-person due diligence meetings with financial advisors at their offices, often in partnership with leading asset management firms and across key financial centers Serve as a professional representative and brand ambassador for Shook Research in all advisor interactions, maintaining the credibility and integrity our brand demands Conduct structured qualitative interviews to develop a comprehensive understanding of each advisor’s practice, client approach, and professional philosophy Support firm-level due diligence for the Forbes | SHOOK Top RIA Firms ranking, including survey review, data verification, and regulatory research Communicate the value of SHOOK’s rankings, research, and in-person events to advisors, acting as a knowledgeable conduit between the advisor community and SHOOK’s research team Document meeting findings with accuracy and thoroughness for use in rankings, research outputs, and data analysis Collaborate with the data and research team on due diligence calls, data collection, and analytical initiatives Analyze advisor data to surface patterns, trends, and insights that inform how top advisors operate and scale their businesses Maintain and update records in CRM software as part of ongoing research and relationship management workflows Support project coordination activities including tracking deliverables, managing timelines, and scheduling across research initiatives Contribute to conference and partnership activities as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; background or coursework in finance, economics, or a related field strongly preferred Prior experience in financial services is a significant advantage Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to ask incisive questions and build trust quickly with senior financial professionals Polished, professional demeanor with a strong sense of personal presentation — you will regularly interface with some of the most prominent advisors in the country Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with data sets and research workflows Experience with CRM software or demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly Ability and willingness to travel nationally at least twice per month (typically 2–3 nights per trip), with flexibility to travel more frequently as business needs arise Self‑motivated, intellectually curious, and eager to grow within a dynamic, fast‑paced research environment Why SHOOK Research Access you can't get anywhere else.
