Purpose and Scope Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and company policies. Functions as part of the hemodialysis health‑care team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Participates in implementation and evaluation of patient care, and reports all incidents, complaints, or problems to the supervisor. Promotes and assists in maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Duties / Activities Customer Service Drive the FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards. Provide outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers. Develop and maintain effective relationships through timely communication. Respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues in a timely manner. Patient‑Related Responsibilities Provide direct patient care for assigned patients. Perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed; administer and monitor treatments per current plan or supervisor direction. Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters on flow sheets; record related information in the patient record. Report significant information, changes in patient condition, or equipment problems to the supervisor. Assist in developing and following teaching plans to educate patients and families about end‑stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications. Assist with emergency operational procedures and administer intravenous medication per physician orders and state nurse practice laws. Perform and document pre‑, interim, and post‑treatment patient condition reviews. Initiate basic CPR measures and respond to emergency dialysis situations. Technical Responsibilities Safely operate all dialysis‑related equipment following proper procedures. Provide minor troubleshooting when necessary. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dialysis facility treatment area. Address blood spills immediately per FMCNA Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies. Operate all emergency equipment effectively per standard operating procedures. Staff‑Related Responsibilities Participate in scheduled staff meetings. Assist in short‑term and long‑term patient care plan meetings. Acquire current practice knowledge in dialysis principles and techniques by attending scheduled in‑service classes. Serve as a resource person for other staff members; coordinate care plans with physician, dietitian, and social worker. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Day‑to‑day tasks include desk and computer work and interaction with patients, staff, and physicians. Direct patient care involves heavy lifting and moving of patients, assisted ambulation, and use of equipment weighing up to 200 lb. Frequent, prolonged standing, bending, and occasional travel between facilities and meetings are required. The environment is typical of a health‑care facility with controlled temperatures and moderate noise levels, with potential exposure to infectious materials. Education Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN). Current and appropriate State licensure. Experience and Required Skills One year medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred. Hemodialysis experience preferred but not required. ICU experience preferred but not required. Completion of a hemodialysis training course in theory and practice. CPR Certification. Completion of the Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire or soon thereafter. Availability to provide coverage at area facilities during short‑staffing or as required. Meeting the Ishihara Color Blindness test requirement. Good verbal and written communication skills.
