Job Overview The Systems Technician installs new electrical systems and repairs existing electrical systems while maintaining compliance with national, state and local electrical codes. Key Responsibilities Program, commission and start‑up low voltage systems including fire alarm, security, access control and surveillance. Install and test low voltage devices, wiring and rough‑in. Supervise, direct, monitor and train helpers, installers, telecom technicians or electricians. Instruct employees on proper use of tools, safety, and technical procedures. Provide input for employee evaluations. Complete all assignment‑related paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Attend all foreman meetings. Maintain reliable attendance with minimal loss of work time. Collaborate with the Fire Marshal on project final inspections. Troubleshoot and diagnose installation and programming issues. Identify, schedule and facilitate all job‑site related inspections with customer and Field Service Manager. Qualifications Holds current Fire Life Safety card. Holds current ACE card. Proficiency in fire alarm, security, access control and surveillance products and services. Effective communication with managers, sales, foremen, general contractors and customers. Good initiative and organizational skills. Strong mechanical aptitude. EST Certified – Preferred. NICET Certification – Preferred. Physical Requirements Talk to communicate detailed information. Hear with or without correction to receive instructions. Stand, bend, kneel, stoop and crouch repeatedly. Walk long and short distances. Reach up to shoulder level and above head. Push, pull, haul, tug or move objects between locations. Lift, raise or move objects horizontally and vertically. Use fingers and hands in repetitive and non‑repetitive motions. See with or without correction; requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment. Lift or move material up to 75 pounds safely. Work Environment Active commercial job site under construction with requirements including: Wearing personal protective equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots and high‑visibility vest/shirt. Working around energized equipment. Working days, nights, weekends and overtime as required. Willing and able to work in confined and small spaces. Constant collaboration with team members.
